So Happy Birthday Legal Aid.You have given hope,Justice and solace to hundreds of thousands of people since your birth 65 years ago.

Unfortunately the passage of time and the will of successive governments has stripped you of your powers as well as your rate of pay.

There is still much work for you to do but your political paymasters seem determined to hive you off with a gold clock.

You might say that they are guilty of constructive dismissal and age discrimination.

I and many others hope that you make it to 100 and beyond.

However there are many others who are not so well meaning.
